Abstract

The study investigated the impacts of micro financing on women entrepreneurs' performance in Rubaga Division, Kampala District, Uganda. A case study research design was employed with a sample of 145 women entrepreneurs who accessed microfinance services. Data was collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression analysis. Results revealed significant positive impacts of microfinance access on business performance (r=0.764, p<0.01), with loan size adequacy, interest rates, repayment terms, and financial literacy training emerging as critical factors. Women entrepreneurs with microfinance access demonstrated 43% higher revenue growth and 38% greater employment creation compared to pre-financing periods. The study concluded that microfinance represented a powerful tool for women's economic empowerment and business development, though challenges including high interest rates, short repayment periods, and collateral requirements limited accessibility and effectiveness. Recommendations included establishing women-focused microfinance products, extending repayment periods, reducing interest rates, integrating business development training, and strengthening microfinance regulation to protect borrowers while ensuring institutional sustainability.
