Juma Charles, Okee Jill Margaret
Neo-colonialism and economy
This dissertation analyses the role of neocolonialism on Uganda's economy and it examines the foreign political and economic institutions in their historical setting and the way they negotiate with the modern political arrangements under neo - colonial authorities. There has been an attempt by the elite to adopt a conciliatory attitude using the state patronage to make them part and parcel of the contemporary political system. This paper tries to provide some theoretical approaches of the neocolonialism in Uganda, and provide practical strategies to the challenges caused by neocolonialism in Uganda. The data from questionnaires were recorded, edited, and categorized according to the research objectives. The researcher used content analysis, which involved editing transcript of the interviews to be presented in a logical form. The political elites of Uganda should transcend nationalistic ideologies of the state by adopting the ideology of multiculturalism in which every citizen doesn't have to imply a particular cultural identity, to fight for a common goal of national cohesion.

This study is guided by 3 0bjectives namely: to examine the impact of pricing on sales volume of Mukwano group of companies limited; to determine the impact of pricing on production volume of Mukwano group of companies limited and to analyze the impact of pricing on profit margin of Mukwano group of companies limited. The study also involves the research problem that motivates the project that’s; to eliminate price overcharges on products and services by different markets. The study used a descriptive survey design because it provides a framework for interpreting the variables of the study. Descriptive research used to obtain information concerning the current status of the phenomena to describe "what exists" with respect to variables or conditions in a situation. The technique is appropriate as it involves a careful in-depth study and analysis on the topic under study, the study employed both quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques. A total number of the study used both simple random and purposive sampling methods for coming with the manageable size of 30 respondents. Data analysis was done using predictive scientific frequency tables and pie-chats to answer the research questions. Basing on the results that were presented in the chapter four and five, it was observed that pricing is a major factor that may affect the organization’s performance in that any change in the price of a similar product’s produced by another company affects the profitability of the company, the findings therefore revealed that competitive based pricing is one way of ensuring that profitability is gained to the maximum with low costs of operation possible. The Influence of Cultural Norms on Socio-Economic Development Communities in Uganda, a Case Study of Namanyonyi Sub County, Mbale District.
Mbodo Ismail, Sekiswa Peter, Dr Arinaitwe Julius
cultural norms socio-economic development and communities
Cultural variables are incorporated into a baseline endogenous economic growth model. Cultural attitudes toward achievement and thrift have a positive effect on economic growth. Cultural attitudes concerning post materialism have a negative effect on economic growth. Ordinary least squares regression is used to test economic and cultural models of growth on a cross section of 25 countries. The encompassing principle is used to resolve competing theoretical specifications and to generate a final parsimonious model. A variant of Leamer's Extreme Bounds Analysis (EBA) is used to evaluate the sensitivity of parameter estimates. 18% of this research finding denoted that cultural norm through cultural ambitious leaders played a big role in mobilizing their respective communities toward socio-economic development. Leaders asked members to participate in recourse contributions, formation SACCOS and small investments clubs that could help enhance personal income, attending seminars and workshops on modern agriculture and giving towards advancement of the social course. The conclusions are further supported by nonparametric methods including robust regression and bootstrap resampling. The data for the analysis are from the World Values Survey (1990) and from Levine and Renelt (1992). An empirical model that incorporates both cultural and economic variables is superior to an explanation emphasizing one set of these variables. The final model is robust to: (1) alterations in the conditioning set of variables; (2) elimination of influential cases; and (3) variations in estimation procedures.

The Role of Selected Social Media Platforms in Tour and Travel. A Case Study of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Rukingiri District.
Namutebi Shukula, Nakimbugwe Sophie
social media tour and travel
In recent years, numerous sources of social media have increasingly played an important role in tourism marketing, and have had a profound effect on Destination Management Organizations’ ability to effectively promote their destinations. With the emergence of more social media platforms, there are more tourism stakeholders recognizing the increased importance to access information for tourists related to their destinations of interest. For example, tourist destination managers use social media to provide information about their travel and tour packages, specific tourist attractions, accommodation costs, guiding services, and all other travel related information. Tourists use social media in their planning process to help them identify destinations of interest, to get feedback on what they should expect, as well as to make contacts with the service providers involved in their travel plans. Tour operators use it to market their tour packages, as well as for preand post-tour interactions with tourists. However, little is known about the influence that social media has on the decisions of tourists who travel to specific destinations of interest, and the use of social media in their travel plans and activities. Tourism suppliers have limited knowledge of the tourism market and the opportunity for tourism growth in destinations. The aim of this study therefore, is to explore the role that selected social media platforms serve in the travel of tourists to visit, and their overall experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda (BINP), which is well known for its gorilla tracking experience. The primary interests and activities of most of the tourists who visit the park is to track gorillas, bird watching, and forest hikes. This qualitative study applied semi structured interviews, which were face to face with thirtyfour participants. Participants in this study included tourists visiting BINP, the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) that manages BINP, lodge managers, and tour operators who link tourists to the park and have the greatest potential to influence tourist decisions. This study also used Radian6, a social media monitoring software to retrieve Facebook and Twitter posts. In addition, this study analyzed forum posts from the BINP Trip Advisor page.

tourism activities and economic development
The ministry of Tourism, Wild life And Antiquities (MTWA) instituted a sample survey of tourists existing Uganda in 2012. The tourism expenditure and motivation survey (TEMS). This survey collected data on tourism expenditures, duration of stay, tourist activities, sites visited, levels of satisfaction and suggestion for improvement in the sector. The purpose of this proposal is too present is to present the activities of tourism on the economic development of the country. This scope is therefore limited to the activities on economic development of the Uganda economy, thus increasing foreign exchange earnings and improving the balance of payment. The data shows that tourism activities spend 60% more than others per to Uganda. This makes tourism attractive target in Uganda to increase the economic growth of tourism. The results from the above table showed that 71.4% respondents in Queen Elizabeth agreed that there were impacts of tourism on the economic development of tourism where as 28.5% disagreed. This showed that indeed there was a greater and positive impact of tourism on the economic development of Uganda overcoming the negative impact. The study also shows that various tourism activities have benefited the local people especially those that live near Queen Elizabeth National Park. In areas of further research, the researcher discovered that there was need investigate the effects of culture on tourism. I would recommend the tourism administrators to collaborate with the government to help build theatres for the display of tourism activities. In this day and age, tourism theatres are essential as they accommodate large numbers of tourists and other people (Christopher & Felex, 2022). This can be a turning point for the development of tourism at Queen Elizabeth National Park and Uganda at large.
