Determinants Of Economic Growth In South Sudan. A Case Study Of Juba
Imports
FDI and population growth rate
The study aimed at the determinants of economic growth in South Sudan with a case study of Juba and it was guided by the following objectives; To determine the relationship between imports and gross domestic product, to determine the relationship between population growth rate and gross domestic product and to determine the relationship between FDI and gross domestic product. Prior studies employed diverse quantitative and qualitative approaches to comprehensively examine this complex issue. Nationwide analyses often leveraged mixed methods. For instance, the study conducted household surveys in seven states alongside interviews and focus group discussions to profile livelihood systems and gauge infrastructure access issues statistically. Specifically, in Juba, Brehm (2011) adopted an ethnographic qualitative case study approach involving extensive participant observation, interviews and archival document review to gain an in-depth contextual understanding of the city's urbanization challenges and opportunities. From the findings, the intercept or constant term was 1.905. This represented the estimated value of GDP when all predictors (FDI, imports, and population growth rate) are zero. In this context, interpreting the constant might have limited practical significance. The coefficient for FDI was 0.722. This suggests that, holding other variables constant, a one-unit increase in FDI was associated with a 0.722-unit increased in GDP. The coefficient for imports was 0.093. This implied that, holding other variables constant, a one-unit increase in imports was associated with a 0.093-unit increase in GDP. The coefficient for the population growth rate was 0.155. This indicated that, holding other variables constant, a one-unit increase in the population growth rate was associated with a 0.155-unit increase in GDP. The standard errors for each coefficient provide an estimate of the variability of the coefficients. For FDI, imports, and the population growth rate, the standard errors were associated with their respective coefficients. It is therefore strongly recommended that the national and Juba city governments strategically target evidence-based priority constraints through collaborative initiatives informed by local consultations. Key recommendations include establishing special economic zones and industrial parks with reliable energy and transport linkages to support job creation and diversification. Investing in technical and vocational education aligned to market needs can help address skills barriers.

Determinants of Youth Unemployment In Uganda. A case study of Wakiso district
imports
GDP.
FDI and unemployment
The study aimed at the determinants of youth Unemployment in Uganda with a case study of Wakiso District and it was guided by the following objectives; To determine the relationship between Imports and Unemployment in Wakiso district, to determine the relationship between Gross Domestic Product and Unemployment in Wakiso district and to determine the relationship between Foreign Direct Investment and Unemployment in Wakiso district. This was complemented by questionnaires and key informant interviews to provide contextual explanations for statistical results. At the district level, more targeted quantitative investigations were carried out leveraging advanced panel data techniques. Through fixed-effects regression modeling controlling for time-invariant attributes, they were able to establish associations between youth job prospects and myriad explanatory variables over the long-run. It is therefore strongly recommended that the Wakiso district local government formulates an integrated strategic action plan to tackle priority impediments through collaborative initiatives. From the findings, the Pearson correlation coefficient of was 0.886 which suggested a very strong positive linear relationship between the Unemployment Rate and imports. The p-value of 0.0041 indicated that this correlation was statistically significant at the 0.05 level (2-tailed). This means that there is strong evidence to reject the null hypothesis that there is no correlation between the Unemployment Rate and imports. Key recommendations include establishing public-private partnerships for skills development aligned to market needs, enhancing agricultural extension and easing access to arable land via cooperative schemes. Microfinance programs and business incubators can help address financing and entrepreneurship constraints.

Effect of Channel Design on the Sales Performance of Monitor Publications Limited, Kampala, Uganda
Radio
Newspaper
Channel Design
Sales Performance
The process of selecting channel members / intermediaries is an ongoing process due to the fact that they tend to leave the channel from time to time, basing on different circumstances: market's changes, problem within their businesses. Thus, the process of choosing intermediaries should be very well managed in order to reduce the cost of identifying them to the minimum. The most important step to be made in order to fulfill the goal is to secure good intermediaries. Distributing a newspaper calls for creation of marketing channels through which it will move from the publishing house to the end-user (the reader). In this study, the researcher set out to assess the effect of channel design on the sales performance of the Daily Monitor Newspaper, a publication of Monitor Publications Limited. Quantitative data was collected from 226 respondents and analyzed to derive the following findings. Channel design, channel administration and channel management technologies were found to positively predict the sales performance of the Daily Monitor Newspaper by 10.5%, 7.6% and 14.7 % respectively. The study revealed that the design of marketing channels for the Daily Monitor Newspaper was generally good, and MPL had acceptable commission policies. Based on the above findings, the study recommends that MPL should devote more resources to channel management and preferably appoint at least one dedicated manager, whose sole responsibility is to manage customer relationships and to develop marketing programs meant to drive revenue through the channel. Dedicating more resources to channel management would enable MPL address issues like gathering or sharing Newspaper industry intelligence information, and organizing trainings for retailers / distributors to improve customer management.

Female Headed House Holds and Family Welfare in Kasese District: A Case Study of Kasese Municipality
Family
Welfare and Households
Households, a fundamental unit in societal structure, are witnessing transformative changes in headship dynamics, particularly the rise of female-headed households (FHHs). This study, conducted in Kasese Municipality, Uganda, explores the impact of FHHs on family welfare, addressing a critical gap in existing literature. With a sample size of 80 FHHs, the study employs correlation and regression analyses. Results reveal a strong negative correlation (-0.630, p=0.002) between FHHs and family welfare, aligning with the Feminization of Poverty theory and Social Capital theory. The regression analysis further indicates that 56.3% of variations in family welfare can be explained by FHHs (R=0.342). Beyond statistical figures, qualitative insights from participants underscore economic disparities, genderbased discrimination, and asset control challenges within FHHs. Policymakers are urged to design gender-inclusive economic initiatives, strengthen social support networks, and integrate gender-sensitive perspectives into poverty alleviation policies, fostering holistic improvements in family welfare in Kasese Municipality.
