Job performance was measured through self-reported assessments of in-role and extra-role behavioral dimensions. The gathered data was then subjected to detailed statistical analysis using Pearson's product-moment correlation and multiple linear regression techniques to determine the nature and magnitude of the association between the independent variable of human resource development and the dependent variable of job performance. The findings revealed a significant positive correlation as well as a strong predictive ability of human resource development on job performance. The standardized beta coefficient for Human Resource Development was 0.561, which was positive and statistically significant as evidenced by the t-value of 6.021 and significance value of 0.000, which was less than 0.05. This implied that for every one standard deviation increase in Human Resource Development, job performance increased by 0.561 standard deviations. Various implications of the research outcomes for both theory and practice within the specific context of private enterprises located in Biharwe Town Council, Mbarara City are discussed. Interest Rates and its Impact on Stock Prices among Small Scale Enterprises: An Empirical Evidence of Kampala District
Interest rates
inflation rate and stock prices
Interest rate changes influence the stock market performance of companies through valuation and investment channels. However, empirical evidence of this relationship on small businesses remains limited in Uganda. This study investigated the impact of interest rate fluctuations on stock prices of small enterprises listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange using time series data from 2007 to 2021. Multiple regression analysis was conducted on SPSS and STATA while controlling for inflation, GDP growth and exchange rate variations. The findings revealed that a rise in interest rates significantly decreased stock prices as firms faced higher financing costs. Additionally, inflation negatively affected stock prices whereas GDP growth and exchange rate depreciation had positive influences. This unstandardized coefficient accounted for the variability in stock prices not explained by other variables in the model. Furthermore, the standardized coefficient (Beta) for interest rates was 0.688, indicating a strong positive relationship between interest rates and stock prices. This standardized coefficient allowed for a comparison of the relative importance of different predictor variables in influencing the dependent variable, stock prices, while considering their respective scales. The conclusions drawn were that prudent monetary policy tailored to support small enterprises could optimize their utilization of the capital markets for growth. In order to most effectively support small and medium enterprises to pragmatically leverage existing capital market channels as strategic tools optimizing necessary asset financing, several policy recommendations can be delineated.

International Trade Nexus Economic Growth In Uganda. Empirical Evidence Of Kampala District
GDP
FDI
Imports And exports
This research paper aims to provide empirical insights into the intricate relationship between international trade linkages and economic growth outcomes specific to Kampala District, Uganda over the past three decades. As one of the primary destinations absorbing foreign direct investments and concentrating export-oriented manufacturing clusters within Uganda's borders, Kampala's economic fortunes are inextricably tied to the nation's integration within regional and global trading networks. However, despite macro-level studies exploring trade openness impacts on aggregate growth at the national scale, there remains a dearth of evidence parsing out the differential implications according to locale, with Kampala District warranting dedicated investigation due to its strategic positioning at the heart of cross-border commerce flows. To address these knowledge gaps, this study employs longitudinal quantitative analysis of time-series data from 1990 to 2020 compiled by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics as well as qualitative interviews with policymakers and businesses. The research aims to disentangle how fluctuating trends in Uganda's trade volumes, composition and external partnerships influenced Kampala's economic restructuring, sectoral productivity gains, output dynamics and income indicators over time. In addition to trade, control variables accounting for infrastructure investments, foreign capital inflows, inflationary environment and terms of trade are utilized to isolate the unique contributions of international commerce pathways. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers seeking to bolster export competitiveness and maximize spillover multipliers from Kampala's concentration of trade-led industries. The results indicate that Kampala District underwent remarkable industrialization and structural transformation closely associated with Uganda's rising globalization and regional economic cooperation. International trade openness significantly and positively impacted local GDP growth even after controlling for other growth determinants Exports exhibited a perfect direct correlation with itself (r = 1.0). GDP demonstrated a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.409) with exports. Using a two-tailed hypothesis test with a significance level of α = 0.01, this correlation was deemed highly statistically significant (p = 0.000). Since the pvalue is less than the critical value of 0.01, the null hypothesis of zero correlation in the population can be rejected. Nonetheless, challenges related to rising import competition, congestion costs and small firms' inability to access global opportunities point to the need for complementary policies enhancing competitiveness, infrastructure, skills and financing.

Inventory Management Strategy and its Impact on Production Efficiency: An Empirical Evidence of Mukwano Manufacturing Industries
Inventory Management Strategy
Production Efficiency
Lead Time and Supplier Performance
Effective inventory control optimizes production throughput and minimizes costs. However, limited empirical research exists evaluating impact of specific inventory management strategies adopted by manufacturing firms in Uganda. This study investigated relationship between just-in-time, economic order quantity and manufacturing lead time inventory approaches and overall equipment effectiveness at Mukwano Industries using time series data from 2012 to 2021. Multiple regression analysis was conducted on SPSS and STATA while controlling for demand variability, product complexity and supply chain integration. The findings revealed that just-in-time and economic order quantity positively influenced production efficiency whereas long lead times lowered it. Adopting lean manufacturing principles tailored to the context could foster productivity. The model indicated that technical skills had a statistically significant effect on production efficiency, as evidenced by the significant coefficient (β = .373, p < .001). The R Square value of .405 suggested that approximately 40.5% of the variance in production efficiency can be explained by the predictor variables included in the model, with a slightly lower Adjusted R Square value of .398 after accounting for the number of predictors and sample size. To strategically optimize inventory management practices realizing untapped potentials for heightened productivity at Mukwano Industries, several forward-thinking recommendations should prudently be actualized.

Management Of Financial Institutions, Performance Appraisal Management And Financial Performance Of Financial Institutions. An Empirical Evidence Of Centenary Bank, Kampala Branch
Management
Financial Institutions
Performance
Appraisal and Management
Effective management of human capital resources and standardized operating procedures are imperative prerequisites for any financial institution to attain optimal productivity levels, cost efficiency and profitability goals essential for long-term competitiveness within the dynamic banking industry landscape. Against this backdrop, this empirical study rigorously investigated the influence of performance appraisal systems on financial outputs realized at Centenary Bank's Kampala Branch, one of the largest transactional service hubs, from 2017 to 2021 through a mixed methods sequential research design. Both quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques encompassing archival records audits, electronic staff surveys and in-depth interviews generated insightful findings into the interrelationships between performance management frameworks, productivity indicators and key profitability metrics over the fiveyear assessment period. Overall, results deduced that while commendable progress has been made in digitizing services and client base expansion, deficiencies persist in competency development alignment to roles, equitable incentive structuring and consistent implementation of standardized appraisal procedures negatively impacting transaction throughput levels and profit targets attainment. Approximately 37.7% of the variance in financial performance is explained by its relationship with management as denoted by the R square value of 0.377. Examining the coefficients table revealed that after controlling for management of financial institutions, the constant value was 1.4455, suggesting the expected financial performance when the predictor was zero. These findings hold significant implications for pragmatic reforms through evidence-based solutions geared toward optimized efficiency, cost management and sustained achievement of strategic objectives essential to bolster the branch network's contribution to Centenary Bank's mission as the premier financial solutions provider.
