Determinants of Exchange Rates in Uganda (1994-2019)
inflation
money supply
external debt and exports
The rate of fluctuation of Exchange rate in Uganda has been on a rise and this prompted research (study) to examine the major determinants of nominal effective Exchange rate and how those factors influence the exchange rates in Uganda. The study focused on four specific objectives namely; inflation, money supply, external debt and exports. To examine the relationship, an OLS method was employed to examine the relationship and influence of variables for the period of 26 years. Some variables such as money supply, external debt and exports were transformed into logarithmic variables to allow normal distribution of error variance and homoscedasticity. The study involved the use of a quantitative research approach using secondary data for the period 1994-2019. Main findings indicate that trade log exports have a negative significant relationship and low on nominal exchange rate, log external debt has a negative insignificant relationship and low influence on nominal exchange rate while log money supply has a positive significant relationship and high influence on nominal exchange rate and inflation has a positive insignificant relationship and also high influence on nominal exchange rate. Several diagnostic tests were conducted to determine the econometric properties of the variables such as Multicollinearity, Autocorrelation, heteroscedasticity, normality and stationarity. Cointegration test were also carried out using ARDL Bound test and it was found out that there is cointegration equation (long-run relationship exists). Exchange rates also may be affected by some other factors that have not been in this research.miu.ac.ug/publications 1091 METROPOLITAN JOURNAL OF BUSINESS & ECONOMICS (MJBE) ISSN 1813-4238 Vol. 2 Issue 4, July - 2023, Pages: 1091-1118 study, so this study recommends that central bank of Uganda should enact policies that regulate the monetary factors (such as inflation, money supply, external debt) to contributes towards gaining value of the Uganda shilling

Determinants of Youth Unemployment in Uganda. A Case Study of Kampala District
Youth unemployment
foreign direct investment
population growth
The study focused on the factors influencing jobless in Uganda and has the following goals: to ascertain the effect of the rate of population growth, the connection between price increases and youth joblessness, and the effect of foreign direct investment on youth unemployment. The study used descriptive information along with a design that was cross-sectional in nature. This study's goal was to pinpoint the elements that influence young people's unemployment in the Kampala region of Uganda. Before being applied for forecasting, the VAR model underwent time-series property. The time series data undergone a descriptive analysis to make sure that the distribution was normal. These included assessments of the center of gravity (mean, median, and mode) as well as a measure of variability (standard deviation, skewness, and kurtosis). As a pre-test for time series data, stationarity checks were carried out using unit root tests. The rate of unemployment and foreign direct investment were significantly correlated, with a somewhat favorable relationship, according to the Pearson correlation value of 0.566. The null hypothesis was rejected and it was found that there was a significant correlation between foreign direct investment and the rate of unemployment since the P-value (0.00) 0.05 showed that this link was statistically different at the 5% level of importance. Similar to this, the correlation value of -0.203 revealed a weak negative insignificant relationship between the rate of joblessness and population growth. R-squared is 0.355, which indicates that 36% of the variations in unemployment can be attributed to population growth, inflation, and foreign direct investment. Other elements discovered in the error term provide 36% of the interpretation; as a result, they are not included in the model. The data is well-fitted, and since the R2 is high, the fit is also good. The research.miu.ac.ug/publications 1047 METROPOLITAN JOURNAL OF BUSINESS & ECONOMICS (MJBE) ISSN 1813-4238 Vol. 2 Issue 4, July - 2023, Pages: 1047-1067 F statistic of 6.057 with a p value of 0.002, which is less than 0.05, suggests that every factor together have a substantial short-term impact on unemployment. The data is well-fitted and consequently a good fit because the R2 is high.

Effect of Commercial Agriculture on the Development of Community (A Case Study of Kinyara Sugar Works)
commercial agriculture
development and community
The study evaluates the effects of the Commercial Agricultural (CA) on the empowerment of farmers in Kinyara Sugar works. Survey and documentary research design will be employed and data sourced will be analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively with more emphasis on the later. The study will adopt the theory of modernization as theoretical underpinning. According to the study, CA benefits farmers' lives by encouraging them by means of the offering of matching grants, instruction, agricultural supplies, and the establishment of the marketplace opportunities/linkages, which are reflected in an increase in farmers' standard of who reside and income. Nevertheless, it has failed to provide warehouses for cutting-edge farming equipment like tractors, and a fixed/reasonable price for agricultural products. According to the results, a 1% rise in commercial agriculture resulted in a considerable boost in the economic growth of the neighborhood, while holding all other variables constant. Since the P-value (0.00) was less than 0.05, this was statistically noteworthy, and we consequently disregarded the null assumption and came to the conclusion that there was actually an important connection among commercial agriculture and the development of communities. Thus, it suggests that Kinyara offer farmers with storage facilities and cutting-edge farm machinery.

One of the most significant food and economic crops for both industrial farming and numerous rural agricultural households in Africa is maize, Zea mays L. However, small-scale producers who primarily use mixed crop-livestock systems of cultivation produce a significant amount. Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), sometimes known as the fall armyworm, is an ecologically significant pest that mostly targets maize and other graminaceous crops in its native tropical and subtropical America. However, there are approximately 100 plant species in 27 families that make up its host range. The adult moths can travel more than 100 kilometers in a single night, making it a well-known nomadic pest that travels sporadically and over great distances.
